NewVictoria · 2026–27 skilled visa nomination program
Estimate your Victorian Points Test total
The Victorian Government uses the Victorian Points Test (VPT) to rank all Registrations of Interest (ROIs) when selecting applicants for Victorian nomination for the Skilled Nominated visa (subclass 190) and the Skilled Work Regional (Provisional) visa (subclass 491). This calculator applies the published point tables to the details you enter. The result is an estimate.
Victoria’s 2026–27 skilled visa nomination program will open soon for Registrations of Interest (ROIs). Eligibility criteria and further details will be published when the program opens.

How the VPT works
Age, English language, years of experience in the nominated occupation, educational qualification, occupation skill level, partner’s skill (if applicable) and annual earnings from skilled employment in Victoria (if applicable). Each factor carries a different weight.
Each factor contributes to an ROI’s VPT total. ROIs are ranked from highest to lowest based on that total.
Unlike the Australian Government’s points test (SkillSelect), the VPT does not have a fixed pass mark. Invitations are issued to the ROIs with the highest VPT totals in each invitation round.
Age
Age at the time of the ROI
The VPT age table ends at 44. SkillSelect invitations require applicants to be under 45.
The VPT total is calculated using information from the SkillSelect Expression of Interest (EOI) and the Victorian ROI.

VPT
Invitation process
Applicants in all eligible occupations can submit an ROI, and all ROIs are ranked using the VPT. Each ROI is considered under both of the options below.
Most competitive
In each invitation round, ROIs with the highest VPT totals across all eligible occupations in the pool at that time are invited.
Priority industry
Certain occupations in Victorian industries are prioritised to address critical skills needs. In each invitation round, ROIs with the highest VPT totals within each priority industry in the pool at that time are invited.

Limitations of this estimate
VPT and SkillSelect are separate
The Australian Government’s points test (SkillSelect) determines eligibility for a skilled visa and requires at least 65 points. The VPT is used to assess ROIs for Victorian nomination. Applicants must meet both the Australian Government’s visa requirements and the Victorian Government’s nomination requirements.
Competitiveness is relative
An applicant’s competitiveness depends on their VPT total relative to other applicants and the number of nomination places available. The Victorian Government does not provide information about the likelihood of an invitation or how an applicant’s points compare with others. An invitation or a successful nomination is not guaranteed.
Personal circumstances
The Victorian Government does not prioritise invitations on the basis of personal circumstances, such as age or the expiry of a current visa or supporting documents.
Estimate only
This calculator applies the published point tables. The actual VPT total is calculated by the Victorian Government from the SkillSelect EOI and the ROI, and each claim must be supported by evidence.
Frequently asked questions
What is the Victorian Points Test (VPT)?
The VPT is the points test the Victorian Government uses to rank Registrations of Interest (ROIs) for Victorian nomination of the Skilled Nominated visa (subclass 190) and the Skilled Work Regional (Provisional) visa (subclass 491).
What is the maximum VPT score?
Based on the published tables, the maximum is 950 points: age 300, English 200, experience 100, education 100, occupation skill level 50, partner’s skill 50 and annual earnings in Victoria 150.
Is there a pass mark for the VPT?
No. ROIs are ranked from highest to lowest, and the highest-ranked ROIs are invited in each invitation round, across all eligible occupations and within each priority industry.
How is the VPT different from the SkillSelect points test?
The SkillSelect points test determines eligibility for a skilled visa and requires at least 65 points. The VPT is used only to rank ROIs for Victorian nomination.
