Business Visitor stream
The visa most Vietnamese visitors use: holidays, visiting children and grandchildren, weddings or short business trips. It has Tourist, Sponsored Family and Business Visitor streams. You need to show you will go home at the end and can pay for the trip.
This visa stream lets you visit Australia for business reasons.

About this visa
With this visa you can
As a business visitor, you can:
- make general business or employment enquiries
- investigate, negotiate, enter into or review a business contract
- conduct activities as part of an official government visit
- take part in a conference, trade fair or seminar. You can’t be paid by the organisers to take part
- undertake tourist activities
You can't:
- work for or provide services to a business or organisation based in Australia
- sell goods or services directly to the public
If you want to do short-term work in Australia that isn't a business visitor activity, consider applying for a temporary work visa.
APEC Business Travel Card holders
You might not need to apply for a visa to travel to Australia if you hold an Asia-Pacific Economic Cooperation (APEC) Business Travel Card (ABTC). We consider you to have applied for a Visitor visa when you applied for the ABTC.
ABTC holders (other than New Zealanders) might be granted a Visitor (subclass 600) Business Visitor stream visa to visit Australia. If you hold an ABTC with ‘AUS’ printed on the back, you can enter Australia for short-stay business visitor or tourism activities for as long as the ABTC is valid. The ABTC is valid for 5 years from the date we issue it.
If you apply for and are granted a separate visa, the visa associated with your ABTC will cease.
How long you can stay
This is a temporary visa.
You can stay for the period or dates specified on the visa grant letter. We determine the length of your visa on a case by case basis.
Things we might consider when determining your stay period include:
- how long you want to stay
- why you want to visit Australia
We may not grant the length of stay you want.
We can grant this visa with a single entry or multiple entry.
If we grant you a visa with multiple entry, you can leave and return to Australia on the visa while it is valid.
Generally, we grant a stay period of 3 months. We might grant a stay of up to 12 months in certain circumstances.
If you want to stay longer or permanently in Australia you will need to apply for a visa that allows this.
Stay longer
You can't stay in Australia longer by extending this visa. You must apply for another visa.
You can only apply for a new visa if your visa does not have a condition that prevents further stay, such as condition 8503. We can waive a no further stay condition in limited circumstances.
If you want to have a further short stay or stay longer for a holiday you might be eligible for a Visitor visa (subclass 600) Tourist stream (apply in Australia).
If you want to stay longer for other reasons, you might be able to apply for a new visa that suits your circumstances.
Include family
You can't include family members in your application. Each family member, including those listed on your passport, must submit a separate application.
Cost
The visa costs AUD250.00 for each applicant (concessions apply in limited circumstances).
You might also have to pay other costs for:
- health checks
- police certificates
- biometrics

Cost concession for eligible Pacific Island and Timor-Leste Visitor visa applicants
From 1 July 2026, a lower visa cost applies to eligible Pacific Island and Timor-Leste citizens who lodge a valid visa application.
We will charge eligible applicants the lower visa application cost during the application process in ImmiAccount. We will recognise eligible applicants by the valid passport from the specified countries used in the application when they apply.
The applicant must hold a valid passport issued by one of the following countries:
- Federated States of Micronesia
- Fiji
- Kiribati
- Nauru
- Palau
- Papua New Guinea
- Republic of the Marshall Islands
- Samoa
- Solomon Islands
- Timor-Leste
- Tonga
- Tuvalu
- Vanuatu.
Apply outside Australia
To be eligible for this visa, you must be outside Australia when you apply and when we decide your application.

Your obligations
You must meet all visa conditions and obey Australian laws.
Health insurance
You are liable for all your healthcare costs while you are in Australia. Insurance can help limit your financial liability. To cover any unforeseen medical treatment you might need in Australia we strongly recommend you take out adequate health insurance.

Travel
Check if you have multiple entry, or single entry, in VEVO or your visa grant letter.
If you have multiple entry, you can travel outside Australia and return while your visa is valid.
If you have single entry visa and you leave Australia, you have to apply for another visa to return.
Visa label
We will digitally link your visa to your passport. You will not get a label in your passport.

If you owe the Australian government money, you must have paid it back, or have arranged to pay it back.

You must have, or have access to, enough money to support yourself while you are in Australia.

- stay temporarily in Australia
- obey any condition and stay period attached to your visa
Perform business visitor activities
As a business visitor, you can:

2Gather your documents
Include as much information as possible to support your application. This includes English translations of your documents.

Identity documents
Also provide:
- a national identity card, where required
- proof of change of name
Documents that prove a change of name include:
- a marriage or divorce certificate
- change of name documents from an Australian Registry of Births, Deaths and Marriages, or the relevant overseas authority
- documents that show other names you have been known by
Genuine visitor documents
Provide as much proof as you can to show you are visiting Australia as a temporary visitor only:
- proof you have enough money for your stay and to leave Australia, such as:
- itemised personal bank statements showing a 3 month period
- pay slips
- audited accounts
- tax records
- term deposits
- credit card statements
- your plans while in Australia.
Show us you are a genuine visitor and have reasons to return home by providing:
- a letter from your employer stating they expect you to return to your job
- proof you are enrolled at a school, college or university in your home country
- proof you have close family members in your home country
- evidence of your right to return to your home country
- proof you own property or other assets in your home country
Business visitor documents
Tell us what business visitor activities you plan to do in Australia. You could provide:
- an invitation from a host organisation
- conference registration details
- a letter from your employer stating why you are visiting
- your plans for your stay and details of your Australian business contacts
- proof of your current employment and professional qualifications
- evidence your company is an active business, such as an annual report
- evidence of prior contact with Australian businesses
Character documents
Provide any military service records or discharge papers, if applicable.
We may ask you to provide a police certificate.
Tell us you are getting help
To nominate someone to:
- receive your correspondence, use Form 956A Appointment or withdrawal of an authorised recipient
- provide immigration assistance, use Form 956 Appointment of a registered migration agent, legal practitioner or exempt person.

Additional documents for applicants under 18
If you are under the age of 18, you should provide a copy of your birth certificate showing the names of both parents. If you can’t provide a birth certificate, provide one of the following:
- identification pages of a family book showing the names of both parents
- identification pages of an identification document issued by the government
- identification pages of a court-issued document that proves your identity
- identification pages of a family census register
If somebody other than your biological parents has legal guardianship over you (for example, adoptive parents or a court-appointed guardian), you must provide proof of their legal guardianship.
Provide adoption papers or parental court orders, if applicable.
Anyone with a legal right to decide where you live, and who is not travelling in Australia with you, must complete either:
- Form 1229 Consent form to grant an Australian visa to a child under the age of 18 years
- a statutory declaration giving their consent for you to visit Australia on this visa
Include a document with the signature and photo of the person who completed the form, or declaration, such as a:
- passport
- driver’s licence
In addition to consent information, if you’re not staying with a relative or legal guardian, provide Form 1257 - Undertaking declaration. The person you’re staying with must sign the form.
Prepare your documents

Have all non-English documents translated into English.
Provide original and translated documents in your application.
Translators in Australia must be accredited by the National Accreditation Authority for Translators and Interpreters.
Translators outside Australia do not have to be accredited. But on each translation, they must include their:
- full name
- address and telephone number
- qualifications and experience in the language they are translating
These details must be in English.
Note: You do not need to have any documents certified unless we ask you to.
Scan or photograph
Scan or photograph all documents (English and non-English) in colour.
The scans and photos must be clear and legible.
If a document is more than one page, save it all as one file.
Attach
Attach a document only once, even if you are using it to show more than one thing.

3Apply for the visa

- Pay the application fee. We will not process your application until you pay the fee.
4After you apply

We will let you know when we have received your application and documents.
There are other things you need to know and might need to do.
Travel
Do not arrange to travel to Australia until we let you know, in writing, that we have granted you the visa.
If you travel to Australia on a different visa and that visa ends, you cannot get a bridging visa to stay in Australia. This is because you must be outside Australia when we make a decision on your Visitor visa application.
Biometrics
We might ask for biometrics. We will let you know if you need to provide them.
Health examinations
If you didn't have health examinations before you applied for the visa, have them if we tell you to

We may decide your application without requesting further information from you.
